Customizing the message that appears to users in Adobe Reader

When users open a PDF document, the usage rights that are available to them for that document are displayed. In Adobe Reader 7.0, the information is displayed at the top of the document, within the Adobe Reader window.

You can specify the message that users see when they open the file. If you do not specify text for this message, only the usage rights are displayed. However, the message provides a way for you to supply important information about the document to the user. It is recommended that you provide a message that ensures that recipients of the document understand how to use it effectively.

For example, you can include information about who the document is intended for, an explanation of the user rights that are enabled on the document, what the user should do with the form when it is completed, dates for document validity or deadlines for form submission, and any other details that will help the user to use the document or fill the form appropriately.

Users can opt to hide the message the next time they open the document.
