Selecting filesBefore
Reader Extensions can add usage rights to PDF documents, you need
to select the files. Other conditions must also exist:
The PDF documents must be PDF version 1.3 or later.
The document cannot have a certifying signature created using
the permissions option No Changes Allowed.
You must enter passwords if the files are password-protected.
If you want to add usage rights to a policy-protected file,
Rights Management must be installed on the same server as Reader
Extensions. In addition, the Reader Extensions user must have the
correct privileges for working with the policy-protected file. Note: You
can add usage rights to a policy-protected document only programmatically
through an API or by defining a process.
Select a fileClick Browse.
Double-click the file, or select it and click Open.
To select additional files, click Add, select the
file and click Open.
Remove a file from the list Select the file and click Remove.
Determine if the file is Reader extended Select the file
and click Info.
Selecting a credentialA credential determines the specific usage
rights that are available to you to apply to your document. The
Reader Extensions credentials that are available for use are located
in the Select Credential panel.
Click a credential in the Select Credential list. Review
the details of the credential to ensure that you have the appropriate
credential.
Setting usage rightsAfter
you select the credential, the application displays the usage rights
that are available. Any usage rights that are not permitted by the
configured credentials are disabled. For information about credential
configuration, contact your administrator.
Select the usage rights for Reader Extensions to add.
Under Draft Level, select Draft or Final.
If you select Draft, it does not count against your license
and the forms processed counter will not increment.
If you select Final, it counts against your license and the
forms processed counter will increment.
Create a message to be displayed when a user opens the PDF
document.
To save an incremental version of the file, deselect the Full Save check
box.
When this option is selected, Reader Extensions performs
a full save, which produces a smaller file than an incremental save,
but is slower. Reader Extensions always performs a full save for
encrypted files.
Click Apply. If the file is password-protected, enter
the password.
In the Select Location For Download dialog box, locate the
folder in which to save the PDF or ZIP file (or type the name of
the file in the File Name box). Note: You must specify the
filename extension as PDF. For example, if you are saving the file
as Example.pdf, you must type Example.pdf in the File Name box.
Click Save. The rights-enabled document is saved and
is ready to be tested or distributed.
Note: If
the file names of the original PDF files contain extended characters,
the PDF files within the ZIP file may be renamed.
Continue setting usage rights Click Start Again to
select usage rights for another PDF document, or log out.
