About the Rights Management ServiceThe Rights Management service enables users
to dynamically apply confidentiality settings to Adobe PDF documents
and to maintain control over the documents, no matter how widely
they are distributed.
The Rights Management service prevents
information from spreading beyond the user’s reach by enabling the
users to maintain control over how recipients use the policy-protected
PDF document. A user can specify who can open a document, limit
how they can use it, and monitor the document after it is distributed.
A user can also dynamically control access to a policy-protected document
and can even dynamically revoke access to the document.
The
Rights Management service also protects other file types such as
Microsoft Word files (DOC files). You can use the Rights Management
Client API to work with these file types. The following versions
are supported:
Microsoft Office 2003 files (DOC, XLS,
PPT files)
Microsoft Office 2007 files (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX files)
PTC Pro/E files
