LiveCycle ES3 includes Content Repository Extreme (CRX) 2.3,
a content repository based on JCR 2.0 technology. CRX is a data
storage system designed for content-centric applications, and combines
the characteristics of conventional file systems with relational
databases. Some of the important features of CRX repository are
as follows:
Stores content in a hierarchical folder structure,
which allows for referring to nodes and properties using paths.
Allows you to restrict access to content based on policies
and access control lists (ACLs).
Supports unstructured content but can be configured to enforce
constraints on data structure using schemas.
Supports SQL queries.
Supports full-text search on content.
Supports versioning of repository content.
For more information about JCR and CRX capabilities, see Exploring CRX.
The DVD installation media and downloaded ESD for LiveCycle ES3
include a self-running Quickstart jar file, com.adobe.granite.microcore.jar,
in the \CRX directory. The jar file includes a JCR-compliant repository
and Apache Sling, which is a web framework for developing web applications
on Java. For information on how to install stand-alone CRX, see Installing CRX.
LiveCycle ES3 provides a Document Services Component (DSC) -
Content Repository Connector - that allows you to connect LiveCycle
with CRX using HTTP protocol. For more information about how to
configure the DSC and the operations available with it, see Content Repository Connector for Adobe LiveCycle ES3.
