Apply a color or tint to text or an object using formatting features

  1. Select the text or object to color or tint.

  2. Apply color to paragraphs, selected text, graphics, text lines, and equations using the appropriate formatting feature. Features include paragraph or character catalog or designer, or the Tint and Color drop-down lists on the Tools panel. The following table shows what features to use for tasks that vary:

    A text frame

    The Fill drop-down list on the Tools panel to change the frame fill pattern from None. Then use the Color drop-down list or the Tint drop-down list to assign a color

    Cells in a table

    The Color drop-down list in the Custom Ruling and Shading dialog, or in the Table Designer

    Change bars

    The Color drop-down list in the Change Bar Properties dialog

    Conditional text

    The Color drop-down list and the New Color button in the Edit Condition Tag dialog

    All drawn objects and text

    The Color drop-down list in the Tools panel (hold down Shift+Alt and choose a color).
