When you
choose the upgrade option in Configuration Manager, Configuration Manager
performs upgrading tasks such as migrating essential data from your existing
AEM forms on JEE configuration, and migrating security credentials.
The upgrade process also provides backward-compatibility support
for the upgraded version of AEM forms on JEE.

Upgrading to AEM forms on JEE from modules of LiveCycle
ES4 SP1involves these tasks:

2.2.2 Post-deployment upgrade tasks
Some
manual steps are required after you complete the upgrade and deployment
process to ensure that your previous properties are retained and
the client applications are fully migrated and continue to run with
AEM forms on JEE.
