Welcome

Welcome to Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform (ADEP).

Before you get started with ADEP software and documentation, there are several changes that you need to be aware of such as branding, architecture and installation.

Branding

If you are familiar with LiveCycle or Day terminology you will notice some changes in product names. We are discontinuing the use of the "LiveCycle" name for future releases and formally branding as Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform (ADEP). Additionally, we have rebranded various functional capabilities. For example, Mosaic is now referred to as the Composite Application Framework, LiveCycle Data Services (LCDS) is renamed to Data Services, and Solution Accelerators are referred to as Customer Experience Solutions.

Architecture Overview

ADEP has undergone major architectural augmentation to allow easier development and deployment of Customer Experience Management (CEM) applications. It is important for developers to understand the new architecture prior to installation and configuration the software. You can review the architecture in the: An introduction to the Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform (ADEP) video and in Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 2.5.

Please ensure that you are familiar with the architecture prior to installing the software.

Installation and Configuration

Installing and configuring ADEP involves several product components.  In particular, the installation involves two server components:

  1. Experience Server Quickstarts: You will install one of the following Quickstarts:
    • Platform Quickstart: The Platform Quickstart contains the Experience Services Core (Sling Web Framework, Java Content Repository (JCR 2.0) and associated administration), security, integration (Document Services with User Management) and Data Services.
    • Solutions Quickstart: The Solutions Quickstart contains the same content as the Platform Quickstart, plus the following Customer Experience Solutions:
      • Web Experience Management (WEM)
      • Integrated Content Review (ICR)
      • Customer Communications (CC)
  2. Document Services Installer: Includes the installation and configuration tools that users of LiveCycle ES are familiar with. The installation will install and configure an application server and database instance incorporating document services and applications (LCA) deployed and managed using the Document Services administration console.

Each of the server components mentioned above has its own installation and configuration document which also cover installation of corresponding client-side tooling (Workbench and Flash Builder). These documents provide the platform requirements for each server/component.

What's Next

If you are interested in Solutions (Web Experience Management, Customer Communications (including Correspondence Management, Interactive Statements) and Integrated Content Review), follow the installation instructions in Installing and Deploying Solutions. Install the Solution Quickstart first, and then run the Document Services Installer and run the Livecycle Configuration Manager to complete the Solutions installation.

If you are interested in building new applications, follow the instructions in Installing Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform to install the Platform Quickstart and Flash Builder. You can also configure your Quickstart Server to leverage document services capabilities once you have installed Document Services and run the LCM.

To use the Document Services capabilities, run the Document Services Installer including LCM and install Workbench, the development environment for Document Services. For installation instructions, see Installation for your specific application server.
