Search and replace text

  1. Select Edit > Find, or press Ctrl+F to open the Find and Replace dialog box.

  2. In Find, enter the text that you want to search for.

  3. In Replace, enter the text that replaces the text you are searching for.

  4. Select Match Case if you want the search to be case sensitive.

  5. Specify additional criteria for search using the options in the Find In menu:
    Selected Text
    Searches text currently selected in the draft.
    Note: Find Next and Replace buttons are disabled when the Selected Text option is selected from the Find In menu.

    Current Draft (default)
    Searches the currently open draft.

    Current Draft and Open Dependents
    Searches the open draft and pages to which it is linked.

    Open Drafts in Current Site
    Searches all open drafts in the current site.

    All Open Drafts
    Searches all open drafts across multiple sites.

  6. Filter your search results using the options in the Search menu.

    Text (default)
    Searches for text in the current draft.

    ALT Text
    Searches for alternate text in the current draft. Alternate text is associated with objects such as images, Hotspot, and so on.

    Text in Table
    Searches for text in tables in the current draft.

    Link Text
    Searches hyperlinked text.

    Link Source
    Searches for a hyperlinks in the page which are linked to an external URL, such as http://www.adobe.com.

  7. Select Ignore Whitespace Differences to ignore white spaces during search. For example, if you type 'Contribute CS5' in the text field, the search returns ContributeCS5 as well.

    Note: You cannot search for text separated using carriage returns and whitespaces in a page.
  8. Select Match Whole Word to search whole words. For example, if you are searching for 'Week', the word 'Weekly' is not displayed in the search results.

  9. To find text, click one of the following:

    Find Next
    Highlights the next possible match for the selected text.

    Find All
    Displays all possible matches at once as a list. Double click the search results to highlight the text in the particular page or across pages.

  10. To replace text, click one of the following:

    Replace
    Replaces the current instance with the text in the Replace field.

    Replace All
    Replaces all instances with the text in the Replace field, and displays results of the total replacements.
