Searching for images in Adobe Stock Photos

You can search for images in Adobe Stock Photos in several ways. If you need help getting a project started, a broad keyword search may yield several possibilities and suggest areas to explore. Or, you can browse for images by category by clicking the Browse button on the Adobe Stock Photos home page. If you have a clear idea of what you need, then you can use Advanced Search to narrow the search result. Or refine your search with additional keywords using the Search Within Results option.

Related keywords also help you find images. After you find images, you can start a new search by clicking Find Similar and selecting one or more related keywords from the Image Details dialog box. Each image is associated with keywords that help you find similar images. The more keywords you select, the narrower the search results.

Images matching the search criteria appear as thumbnails in the main Bridge window. You can resize the thumbnails by dragging the Thumbnail slider at the bottom of the screen. When you click an image in search results, a low-resolution image appears in the Preview pane. To enlarge the image, simply resize the Preview pane. You can view information about the image in the Adobe Bridge Metadata pane.

Your previous searches are automatically saved in Previous Searches in the Favorites pane. Click Previous Searches to display the list. To see the search results and the search settings you used, double-click a search results folder. To delete a search results folder, select it and press the Delete key (Windows®), or right-click the search results folder and then choose Send To Recycle Bin (Windows), or Control-click the search results folder and choose Move To Trash (Mac OS).

All thumbnails from recent searches are saved on your computer. Having the thumbnails available offline is helpful if you want to browse through the images when your computer isn’t connected to the Internet. However, the thumbnails do take up some space on your hard drive. At some point, if you want to delete these thumbnails, delete the searches (as described above), or remove them manually from the default file location: My Documents/AdobeStockPhotos/Previous Searches (Windows), or Documents/AdobeStockPhotos/Previous Searches (Mac OS).
