You can use the Social service as an external authentication system, allowing users to sign up to your site using an increasing number of platforms, such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, and more. Social offers a simple and trusted external authentication service and follows all the guidelines for the various platforms.

Remember that Social is not a user management system, and does not replace your existing user management system. You can use Social as an additional sign-up mechanism or as a standalone authentication service for a site or a mini-site that does not have a user management system. Therefore, use your existing user management system to keep track of users' login status while visiting your site.
